WHAT IS THE INNOVATION COUNCIL?

 

The Innovation Council is a group of fearless girls and young women in high school or college who want to innovate and create real change in their communities. The IC advises Tharros on their programs and brings their perspective to the organization’s work. They work across the United States in different regions. Each IC member will learn about best practices and frameworks in social innovation to design girl centered solutions for their community. Solutions designed by IC members will be evaluated by all members and Tharros leadership collectively to determine feasibility and funding required to implement each solution.

 

Tharros will provide:

• 1:1 Mentoring with our Founder Nicole Shaia who will serve as a designated champion to advise on solution strategies and approach 

• Support to mobilize resources to implement your solution 

• A fun and positive environment with likeminded peers

• Opportunities to grow, learn, and develop new skills ​​​

Innovation Council members will get to:

• Learn about design thinking, social entrepreneurship, and innovation frameworks to identify barriers that limit girls' sports participation 

• Advocate for equality in sports and break barriers 

• Be apart of the mission and vision of Tharros 

• Collaborate with other innovative council members throughout the U.S. 

• Build social innovation and entrepreneurship skills 

• Make a positive impact in their community and help more girls stay engaged in sports and fitness

 

Format

• A total of 12 IC members will form the Innovation Council with 2 members from Tharros leadership (executive team and board)

• IC members will serve for approximately 6 months to 1 year

• Virtual huddles held monthly via zoom. We estimate a time commitment of 5-10 hours per month between meetings, learning, and applying key concepts.
